Polyurethane Foam Tests

Here is a solution for those applications where your application calls for long term resiliancy and protection of the Polyurethane foam.  Frequently it comes up as a request for external applications where the foam will be susceptable to damage.  After extensive testing and communication with the manufacturer a solution was found that surpassed all expectations.

Commercial Insulation Last week Certified Urethane Applicators was dispatched to insulate a new Cargo Van for a dealerhip in Wetaskiwin.  Arrangements were made to have a shop available as weather conditions were not ideal for application of urethane foam insulation.  Upon arrival the Cargo Van was moved into the shop and the process of masking and taping was started.

Following are some pictures of before, during and after.  If your considering insulating a Cargo Van give Certified Urethane Applicators a call.  This client was pleased with the uniform and smooth covering of the finished insulation.  See how smooth our applicator does this job /rte/mvi_0909.avi mvi_0909.avi  1.14 MB  15.04.2006 17:23 Be patient as the video is large.

Conditions were windy so other vehicles in the area were moved a safe distance away.  The job went well and the application was a success.  Following is a picture of the external protectant covering being applied to the 100bbl tank.

Completions : RV Insulation

Commercial Insulation The crew from Certified Urethane was dispatched east of Edmonton to a Large Recreational Vehicle Sales and Service establishment.  The task at hand was to insulate the underside of a Fifth-Wheel Travel Trailer.  The unit was very clean underneath and the wheels were removed and the unit placed on stands to facilitate the process.

The Fifth-Wheel was masked off with a plastic barrier to inhibit overspray of foam into other areas of the shop in which we were working.  Next a tarp was laid on the floor to prevent foam from adhering to the concrete floor.  Following that all water and sewer connections were masked off as well as any openings that we didn't need foam in.  The wheels were also masked off with plastic and tape.

Read more to see a visual description of the task.  The client was very satisfied with the results.  I'm sure the new owner will be very comfortable in his insulated Fifth-Wheel from a camping aspect and also from a preservation aspect as the urethane foam insulation will also provide protection from salt and moisture for the structural life of the unit.

Completions : Completion of 400 bbl Tank Insulation and Coating
on Saturday, April 08, 2006 - 11:44 PM MST Posted by : Admin
Oil and Gas Insulation

Recently our crew was dispatched to a tank manufacturing facility south of Edmonton to insulate a 400bbl tank  Our inspected and well maintained mobile-foam-truck (see picture by reading all the article) made the journey as expected.  Once on location we waited.

Our wait was not long as we arrived slightly ahead of schedule.  I was able to observe how this tank was moved into position and placed on four steel supports to facilitate our expected applications.  Once the tank was in place we could begin work.

Masking off of surfaces not needing foam is crucial to doing a good job.  Knowing what to mask off is even more important.  This proceedure typically takes as long as applying the urethane insulating foam itself.  Here is a video of some action I captured.  /rte/MVI_0861.AVI MVI_0861.AVI  6.05 MB  30.03.2006 19:56

After the masking is completed the urethane foam can be sprayed onto the 400bbl tank.  Starting from the top our applicator sprays a pattern from the top of the tank to the back.  Next the applicator systematically works his way from around the tank until all required surfaces are covered in a uniform amount of urethane foam.

The final procedure is a a repeat of the last paragraph except a protective black coating is applied to the outside of the urethane foam.  This gives extra protection to the urethane foam insulation and helps to absorb heat during cold winter conditions.  Clean up follows and we disembark back to our home location.
